Historique :	Cette toile représente des frères mineurs qui pourraient être les franciscains du couvent des Récollets implanté à Roquemaure de 1614 à la Révolution. En effet, ces religieux réformés de l'Ordre de saint François s'établirent d'abord en Espagne, puis en Italie et en France à partir de 1592. Favorisés par Henri IV, Louis XIII et Louis XIV ils fondèrent un grand nombre de maisons et particulièrement sept dans le Gard : la première fondation est à Roquemaure en 1614, puis Nîmes en 1615, Aramon et Bagnols-sur-Cèze en 1617, Sommières en 1630, Aimargues en 1652 et Villeneuve-lès-Avignon en 1717.
