Historique :	C'est dans le registre des délibérations de la fabrique, à la date du 2 avril 1826, que l'on apprend que ce retable date de 1768. Ce jour-là le conseil se réunit sous la présidence du curé Joseph Bayle afin de réclamer deux tableaux qui avaient été saisis au début de la Révolution et qui ont été retrouvés dans l'église St-Etienne d'Uzès : « Monsieur le curé expose que depuis longtemps il cherchait à obtenir des renseignements certains sur la perte faite dans les premières années de la Révolution de deux grands et beaux tableaux représentant l'un saint Victor, patron de la paroisse, et l'autre Notre-Dame du st Rosaire, lesquels dès 1768 avaient été, le premier au maître-autel de ladite église, le second à la chapelle du Rosaire. Que lesdits tableaux il avait acquis la certitude qu'ils se trouvaient aujourd'huy au pouvoir de Monsieur Bonnet, curé de la paroisse de Saint-Etienne à Uzès, qu'il cherchait à en vendre un et qu'il le luy avait offert à l'acheter, au prix de 300 francs comptant. »
