Historique :	Buste de Louis-Augustin d'Hombres-Firmas (1776-1857) realisé en 1859 par le statuaire Bénézech d’après l’inscription portée sur l’oeuvre. Bertrand Marie Prosper Bénézech, né à Quillan (Aude) le 11 décembre 1804, mort à Montpellier le 6 mai 1863, fut l'élève du célèbre Bozio et devint professeur à l'école de sculpture de Montpellier en 1852. Il prend part au Salon de Paris en 1831 et aux expositions artistiques de Montpellier de 1839 à 1860. Une de ses oeuvres, le médaillon en plâtre de M. de Pradel, a figuré à l'exposition centennale de l'art français de 1900. Parmi ses oeuvres les plus connues figurent 7 bustes à la Faculté de Médecine de Montpellier : Hippocrate (1832, classé MH en 2008), Fulcrand César Caizergues (1839, inscrit MH en 2004), Jacques Lordat (1842, classé MH en 2008), Antoine-Louis Dugès (1842, inscrit MH en 2004), Michel Serre (1844, inscrit MH en 2004), Jacques-Etienne Bérard (1853, inscrit MH en 2004), Alire Raffeneau-Delille (1858, inscrit MH en 2004). Il travaille également beaucoup pour les églises comme en témoignent le groupe sculpté du Baptême du Christ (1858, inscrit MH en 2007) de l’église de Villeveyrac, la Piéta (1859, inscrit MH en 2007) de l’église de Poussan et les 5 statues (1852) du choeur de l’église de Nissan-lez-Ensérune.
