Description :	Les parties structurelles sont taillées dans un marbre blanc veiné de gris. La face de l'autel, en marbre vert foncé des Alpes, est ornée d'un médaillon en marbre blanc représentant une croix élevée sur un podium se détachant sur un fond en brèche de Sienne. En partie supérieure de la table d'autel, le cavet est orné de brèche Médicis, marbre que l'on retrouve aussi sur le 1er gradin. La face du 2e gradin présente un rectangle de brèche africaine liseré de brèche de Sienne.

Historique :	"D'après l'inventaire des objets mobiliers de l'église de la Vernarède dressé en 1892 par le curé, le maître-autel, acquis en 1869, provient de l'église d'Aimargues : ""Maître-autel renaissance sculpté marbre incrusté, valeur 1200 F, don de la paroisse d'Aimargues"". Il s'agirait donc d'un rare vestige du mobilier de l'ancienne église paroissiale d'Aimargues qui a été transformée en halle en 1870 suite à la construction de la nouvelle église par l'architecte Revoil entre 1864 et 1869. L'abbé Goiffon dans sa monographie sur l'église d'Aimargues signale que les consuls décidèrent d'agrandir le choeur de l'ancienne église en 1756 et de confier les travaux au maître maçon Lautier pour la somme de 1770 livres. Cet autel pourrait avoir été commandé à cette occasion."
